Share whatever you're reading, and give thoughts and recommendations.

Right now I'm reading Our Culture, What's Left of It by Theodore Dalrymple. It's a collection of essays from the perspective of an English man about cultural degeneration. So far, he's focused primarily on the welfare state as the source of our modern woes.

When was Our Culture written?

I am currently reading several books at once:
A Generous Orthodoxy by Brian McLaren
The Spiritual Exercies of St. Ignatious By Ignatious, translated by Louis Puhl
The Great Emergence by Phyllis Tickle

and IT by Stephen King, for the second time

All religious works, I see.

IT is quite the monolith of religious thought.

Ok, so not too antiquated when dealing with the subject matter.

I've never read IT, but I understand it deals heavily with King's personal mythos and the metaphysics thereof. I like works that are able to communicating such beliefs without saying them directly. Or I do when I understand them because it makes me feel smart.

I think that is the mark of a good storyteller. One should be able to infer concepts from a story without being told them outright.
